Switch from Tier 4 dependent to Tier 2 General

Post by raffee » Mon Sep 02, 2019 5:54 pm

Hello,
[Sorry if this is a repeat question, I didn't find any similar question answered.]
I'm a Software Engineer and I have a Tier 4 dependent visa, and I've been working for the same company for the past 10 months. Since my visa is about to expire in a few months, the company is willing to sponsor me. My question is: is there a route to switch from Tier 4 dependent (as opposed to the main Tier 4 student) to Tier 2, and does the company still need to do the Resident Market Test, specially since most IT and software development roles are on the Shortage Occupation List (2136).

Thanks in advance for your help :)

SOC 2136 is on both the shortage and non shortage list. Not for you to decide which applies. It depends if your sponsor meets the shortage requirement to use the shortage one. If non shortage 2136, rlmt is required.
