Tier 2 Extension to Shortage Occupation

Hi all,

This question on behalf of my friend.

My friends entry clearance was in 2016 as Tier 2 General under non-shortage occupation 2123 Electronics Engineer, now his is going for extension in next month.

Question. Will the role considered under shortage occupation when his is applying for ILR?? as his entry clearance is non shortage.
