I have applied for a variation application to vary an existing Tier 2 valid application that is with the Home Office with no decision made yet.
I was asked in the application to provide the reference number for the valid application that I wanted to vary, and mistakingly, I've provided the payment reference number instead of the Unique Application Number

I just discovered the mistake after submission.
Would it be enough to write a cover letter explaining the mistake? Or shall I cancel the application and do another one? Any advice?
