IHS Charges Refund Covid19

Post by kumar84 » Mon Jul 13, 2020 1:44 pm

Dear Members,

I had submitted for a Tier2 Child Dependent visa in March 2020 and had paid £400.00 IHS surcharge. VFS appointment attended on 13th March 2020 outside of UK.Since 25 March Lockdown happened and have been waiting for the visa. I received emails twice about the delay due to COVID 19 in April 2020.

However my Main TIer2 visa expires early Jan 2021 and since this is less than 6 months no IHS would be required. I have used the https://www.immigration-health-surcharg ... ecker/type and this also says charges as £0.00.

Is it possible to claim the IHS payment or since the visa was submitted in March I could not reclaim the refund.

Kindly advice.

Your topic was moved to the Tier 2 sub forum as tier 2 dependent questions are not relevant to the Family Immigration sub forum.

There is guidance on who is eligible for a refund, but it has not been amended to include any concessions related to the pandemic, such as people whose period in the UK is shortened due to the pandemic. See https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigrati ... on/refunds

The fee payable does depend on the length of the visa, not the length of the person's stay in the UK, so the Home Office may say no refund it due.

It is certainly worth asking them.
