Tier 2 General Visa Unauthorized absence Query

Post by 27sumit » Mon Aug 03, 2020 3:36 pm

Hi there,
One of my friends is on tier 2 general visa. He want to visit his home country India for some important personal work by this November 2020. He is afraid incase second wave of corona erupts, he might end up getting stuck in India and not able to travel back which could mean he ends up staying for more than 180 days just incase.

How will that impact his visa renewal?

Has there been any policy laid down ye by UKBA which covers such cases where subject could not travel back due to pandemic, border closure, no flights?

Thanks,

There has been no change or relaxation of the 180 days absence limit. Unauthorised absence on Tier 2 is also not a good idea at all. The sponsor could withdrawn their sponsorship and notify UKVI, who will curtail his visa.

He is willingly travelling out of the UK to a country he holds nationality of.

hi ,
thanks for the response. since people are working from home at the moment, his client and sponsor are alright with him working from whereever he likes as long as work gets done and is covered visa renewal wise.

hence he was thinking of traveling to india for a personal important work.

Purpose of this query is to ask if UKVI has recently announced anything of such sort which will take care of 180+ day outside the country because of this pandemic and things it control or not?

thanks

No, they have not. There has been no change to the absence limit for tier 2 visa holders, regardless of whether they are working from home abroad or not.
