Tier 2 Dependent visa extension

I am on tier 2 and my wife is my dependant. I applied for ILR and my question is how soon after I receive the ILR should I apply for my wife visa?

She will switch from Tier 2 dependant to Family. Her current visa expire next year, can she wait until the expiry of her current one?
