IHS fee excess refund

Hello Experts,

I have a query for my friend who is applying for his wife's dependent visa from India.

1. He is on ILR currently
2. He is applying for his wife's dependent visa and it says for 3 years but IHS amount is coming for 4 years IHS ( £2496 )

So the question is
1. Because the dependent visa would be given for 3 years, will he get the IHS refund for the 4th year of £624 ?

Ilr expiry date should have been put as three years from date of application to get the correct IHS amount.

Thanks for the reply.

My friend gave the as is ILR end date and it is 31 Dec 2024.
Hence he paid 4 years of IHS.

WIll he get the 1 year IHS feed refund automatically or does he need to apply for the refund manually ?
