Tier2 extension

Hi,

Currently i am on Tier 2 General Visa ( obtained for 3 years) and it is going to end in April'2021. This is same for my family as well, as we entered UK on same date with same visa start stamping date.

I am planning to ask my employer at suitable time to generate a CoS for me so that i can renew the visa.

Here, I would like to extend the Visa only for 2 years so that i can apply for ILR at the end of 5th year ( 3 + 2 year) instead of going for 3 year extension which is a general practice. In this way, i will also save 1 year IHS charges for me and my family.

Can someone please help/suggest/confirm me if i can extend the Tier2 general work visa for 2 years?

Will there be any issues/challenges in future if i go for 2 year extension?
