Switching employer from Tier 2 Gen to new Skilled visa

Hi All,

So I am currently on Tier 2 (Gen) visa. I was offered a job recently, resigned from my previous job, and based on the new CoS I applied for my visa under the New Skilled Category. Both my current and the new employer come under Highly Trusted Sponsors. I have applied for my visa under the standard route. The only issue is my date of joining is in a week's time and I am feeling worried because what if my visa takes more time to come through. In the past, all my Tier 2 visa applications have been really smooth and quick even under the standard route. But this time there is an element of SOC code change and I am wondering whether that usually takes more time. There is still time for the mandated 8 week period under the standard route, so the reasonable thing is to wait. But I am also aware I need to take up the role soon.

I am wondering can the potential employer by using this link get some reasonable info about my immigration status and proceed with some of the basic formalities related to any new employment. I am more keen on knowing can I begin work on the due date? If any of you can point me to any helpful resources, I'd be very grateful. Thank you so much in advance!
