Skilled worker visa extension without the Id check app

Hi,

I have submitted an extension for my Tier 2 visa to a skilled worker visa. My immigration lawyer said that we cannot use the app because the passport needs to have an NFC chip so we applied through Skilled worker visa without the APP. by the end of the application, we had the option to select priority and super priority services and went for 1 day decision.

I am confused, did we do something wrong and should we use the app?

I have seen in the UKVI website that we won't receive a decision via email but it will be by post and then in another UKVI pages, they say if your application is successful you should receive an email stating that and if refused, you won't get anything? I am very confused now?

Can anyone help me with this please? did anyone had similar experience?
