Skilled Worker Visa Refused code 2142

Post by Uzyboy » Fri Aug 22, 2025 8:40 am

Hi
Hopefully someone can guide me via this forum.
I got a job in UK as graphic designer in June 2025 and COS was issued. I applied for my visa on 15th July, and i was given an interview date for 21 Aug - 08:30 UK time. Interviewer was really pushy and rude, did not have his camera on and kept pushing me to give answers quickly as he said that he only has limited time to conduct. Anyway, i gave answers with good detail and gave good interview. For further documentation interviewer asked me to send my tenancy agreement to home office. However, 10:30 PM UK time on 21st August they sent me a refusal letter. There are two points which caught my attention:
1 - Date on refusal letter is wrong - it said i applied for visa on 13 June 2025 which is wrong.
2 - they mention about two interview questions - and i have very fresh memory of the interview as it was conducted less than 24 hours of writing this, those questions were never asked.

I am looking for someone to kindly guide me on what to do - i was suppose to start my new role on 8th September.

You applied for entry clearance as a Skilled Worker on the 13th of June 2025. I am
writing to tell you that your application is refused.
What this means for you
You can apply for an administrative review of this decision. Instructions on how to
apply can be found under the ‘next steps’ section.
The reasons for this decision are set out in the next section.
Yours sincerely
TH ECO
UKVI Sheffield

Given these expectations, it would be reasonable to expect that you would be able to
provide a detailed answer in relation to your understanding of file formats and their
relevancy when creating content:
Do file formats effect the quality of
images?
I don’t know.
You have stated that you do not know the answer to this question and you have not
been able to supply any additional information in order to demonstrate your
capabilities within this role. In order for a graphics designer to undertake their role,
they would likely need to have an understanding of how file sizes and formats add
complexity into creating content for different purposes on varying platforms. As you
have not demonstrated the level of knowledge that would be expected of someone
seeking to undertake this role, it raises concerns over your capabilities to perform
this role in the UK.
You were also asked to discuss how you would implement company branding in
amongst the work you create. This too is referenced within your job description:
“Create visually engaging assets for websites, social media, email campaigns, and
other digital platforms to support brand awareness and engagement.”
As your sponsor has an expectation that you will be able to integrate brand
awareness in with the assets you will use and create, it would be reasonable to
expect that you would be able to provide a comprehensive answer as to how you
would achieve this:
AR refusal template – October 2020
How do you interpret and
implement a company’s brand
guidelines into fresh unique,
designs?
I will use my own experience to
make this.
In your answer you have provided a surface level understanding of what the question
was asking of you, but you have not supplied any details or technical knowledge in
order to demonstrate how you would complete this task. I note that you state that you
would use your own experience, however, you have not detailed what your
experience is or how it will help you to complete this task. The lack of detail you have
supplied raises further concerns around the credibility of your application.
I have considered the information you have provided in support of your application
and the information gathered during your interview. I am not satisfied that you are
genuinely intending nor able to take employment in the role for which you are being
sponsored, or as otherwise permitted in the Skilled Worker route, because you do
not have the relevant knowledge to do the job. I am also not satisfied that the
answers given reflects any experience in a similar role as stated by yourself in the
interview, as you have not been able to answer the majority of the questions with
technical job-specific knowledge.
I am not satisfied that your answers support your credibility as a genuine Skilled
Worker applicant because as a Graphics Designer & Multimedia Specialist it would
be required for you to know these things to enable you to do your job effectively. You
have also not submitted anything that confirms your training, experience, or level of
expertise in this field, nor what your sponsor looked for in order to hire you. I am
therefore satisfied that you do not possess the skills or experience for the role you
are sponsored to do, nor that you intend to undertake employment in the role
described on your Certificate of Sponsorship.

I am 100% sure these questions were not asked.

Also - Home Office ref number does not match with my GWF number? i m not sure if this is suppose to be like this?

They have given an option of AR - however, i dont know how long it takes for that to be processed or if my employer even will wait that long.

If someone can kindly guide it would be helpful.

Thank you
