Hey everyone,
Having some troubles with my visa at the moment. I came to the UK on a Tier 5 YMS visa, valid 31 dec 2011-31 dec 2013. Last December I went to Belgium for the weekend, and upon re-entry at the Calais ferry terminal I was stamped with a 6 month tourist visa with the 'Leave to enter for six months, employment and recourse to public funds prohibited' lines on there.
Since then I have been in and out of the country several times, and not had any problems, (each time I come back to the UK I fill in my landing card and state I am on the Tier 5 and am currently employed.) until this week. Went away for the Bank Hol Long Weekend.
The IO that I saw brought it to my attention that this stamp would nullify my Tier 5 YMS.
I have been on the phone to UKBA several times over the last couple of days and have gotten the same response. Also been told the only way to rectify the situation is to return to Aus, reapply for my visa and re enter the country with the proper visa again. I tried explaining that you couldn't reapply for the visa class I was on, and was told that was my only option.
The 6 moth tourist visa expires 9th June. Now I ned to know whether thats it, and I need to be getting ready to leave, or if there is any way to get this situation fixed.
Thanks for your help
Emma
