Student visa expires in Feb 2014, Can I travel?

Post by ups1984 » Sat Jul 06, 2013 10:05 am

Hi guys,

I had a quick question. My student visa expires in February 2014 and I will have to submit my dissertation in September 2013. I was told by someone that if I travel out of the UK in September and come back in October, I might be refused entry as my course will have finished, even though my CAS letter says that my course ends in end of October.

Can I travel at the time that I have mentioned? Has anyone been refused entry for something similar.

Yes, their is a risk of entry refusal at airport when course has been finished. It's happened with many students but you can apply further visa from your home country, if you want.

Thanks for your reply. I had two follow on questions:

1. Does this happen even if the CAS letter says that the course has not finished?

2. What kind of visa can I apply for from the home country?

Regards

To be honest, it all depends on how confident you are. As long as you're a GENUINE Tier 4 student, you have nothing to worry about.

I was on Tier 4 attending a University in Wales for 4 years. I travelled to Africa and came back 2 weeks before my last visa expired, the immigration officer only asked me where I was flying in from and which University I attended, I answered and was on my way. I was ready to kick off if anyone tried bullsh*tin me! It cost over 40grand for a degree so I knew my rights.

This is my own personal experience! if you have not breached any condition of your stay, you'll have NO PROBLEM.
IMpossible is 2 letters to long!

Yes. If CAS course dates are different but the course actually ended and there is no attendance left/necessary to gain the targeted qualification.

You can apply either further student visa or visit visa or any other visa according to your need and eligibility.

All HTS licensed institutes are bound to report/update the student performance/record to UKBA. As soon as you submitted your dissertation your course is officially finished. And in case of failure then usually extra time is given to repeat that phase which could be argued to be the course continuation.
