travel on BC Certificate

Post by naCC » Thu Apr 04, 2013 7:51 am

Hi is it possible for babies to come to the UK on BC certificate ? My children got their BC certificate this week now I need to apply for their British passport from abroad but it will take them over 6 months fron there so is it possible for them to come to the UK on another country's passport without a valid UK visa and then apply for British passport from inside the UK ?

The problem won't be to enter the UK border but to get to the border. If their other nationality requires a visa to travel, the airline will not allow them to board without a visa. If they can get to the border somehow they would be able to enter.

Check with IPS. Passport applications from abroad are changing now. In future all passport applications would be handled by IPS in the UK. Maybe you can apply directly to IPS even though they are abroad.

Thanks Jambo I Just want to avoid the application delay as it takes Minimum 6 Months to process the New Passport Application and some of peoples I know have been waiting for over 9 months and I dont wanna be in that situation.

Can you please post any link to the IPS site where they have mentioned any aprox date when they are going to change the application procedure ?

It used to be on the FCO website but now it all points to the new GOV.UK site.

I found a reference to the changes here but as I said, just call IPS and ask for their advice.

You can get passport with in 5 weeks if your baby born in UK and went to home country.here you need to apply British passport with naturalization certificate.
But if your baby born in foreign country and want to apply for passport directly then it may take up to 6 months
