Wait for own Citizen Ship instead of applying through MN1???

Post by BOSAAL » Sat Dec 21, 2013 3:50 pm

Baby born in UK in Aug2013 while i was on Tier1General and i got ILR in Dec2013. If i dont apply for her registration through MN1, will she become BC automatically after i get BC in an years time. This is my understanding of the following lines in MN1 Guide.
Gurus please correct me if i m wrong
Thanks

Children who have automatically acquired British citizenship do not need to be registered.
There are two ways a child can automatically be a British citizen without needing to
register.
1 British citizenship otherwise than by descent
A child born in the UK to parents one or both of whom are
• British citizens, or
• are settled in the UK at the time the child is born, or
• members of the UK armed forces
is automatically a British citizen otherwise than by descent and does not need to be
registered.

No, you still need to register the child on MN1 because they were born BEFORE you obtained ILR.

The extract you refer to is if the child was born after you obtained ILR or BC.
