Fees and Reference Query

Post by Rajuk09 » Mon Mar 24, 2014 12:07 pm

Hi All,

I am on ILR and eligible for Naturalisation . My wife is eligible by herself from July this year. I am not in a hurry in getting Citizenship. But thinking about fees change was looking to apply before April 6th. My query on this is
1) New fees is going to be increased to £906 from 6th April for single applicants , and could not see the joint application fees mentioned in https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2014.pdf
Does that mean it is not changed for joint application ? Or should I be paying fees mentioned in "Nationality (British citizenship) Registration adult" ? Am I missing something here ? Please clarify.

2) My second query is in Reference - I know 2 people both with British Passports , 1 - is a Director of a Limited company and 2 - Working as a Manager. Are these fine for references ?

Please help.
Kind regards
Raj

It would seem that the possibility of a joint application no longer will exist. However there is no confirmation that the new fees are going to be implemented. They are still, even at this late date, considered to be 'proposed'.

joint application used to enjoy 50% discount compared to two single applications; this was reduced to 25% last year.
as per the latest fee proposal there won't be any more discount - so joint application fee = 2 x single application fees

Also please let me know if the References are fine to take ?
I know 2 people both with British Passports working in the same Company,
1 - is a Director of a Limited company and
2 - Working as a Manager. Are these fine for references ?

Your first referee should be a director of a limited company. Your second referee should be over 25 with British passport. They both should have known you for 3 years.
I am sometimes wrong.

This has not been officially confirmed by any source I can dig up, but it is generally assumed that the fee changes will take place. Any official confirmation not come until April 6th itself.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2014.pdf

this is the source which lists fees applicable from 6 April 2014.
