Applying after a year abroad

Post by juliale » Mon Jan 12, 2015 1:00 pm

Hey I moved to the UK with the intent to settle here in August 2008 from Lithuania (EU and EEA).
We relocated with my family, I finished school, worked, am now in my fourth year of uni. Technically this is my 7th year in the UK but as part of my degree I had to spend a year abroad. It was compulsory. I was abroad for the most of August 2013-July 2014. I want to apply for naturalisation now, do you think I should go ahead or is it too big of a risk? I reckon that my year abroad study qualifies under the section (5A1 in the booklet) of absence resulting from "an unavoidable consequence of the nature of yourk work" (in my case study). I have struggled to find any way at all to confirm or deny this.

Your absence studying does not qualify and it is treated as absence.
Anything over 90 days in the final year and 450 days in last 5 years and you have to apply for discretion.
Anything over 180 days in the final year and your application will be refused.
I am sometimes wrong.
