Are employment letters required for ILR holders?

Post by happyguy82 » Fri Jan 16, 2015 12:05 pm

Hello once again,

I'm currently an ILR holder. Looking at Guide AN:

APPLICATIONS MADE ON THE BASIS OF RESIDENCE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
Evidence of lawful residence during the 5 (or, if the applicant is married to or in civil partnership to a British citizen, 3) years before the date of the application

Your passports OR say why you are unable to provide one on page 15 and supply

Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating the applicant’s presence in the United Kingdom during the relevant period

It appears that I'll need to provide Employee reference letters to cover the 5 year period? I never thought this was necessary for Naturalisation.

Could someone please confirm whether this is required?

Thanks.

Read it as:
• Your passports
OR
say why you are unable to provide one on page 15 and supply
•Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating the applicant’s presence in the United Kingdom during the relevant period
So if you have your Passport proving you were in country during time period, you don't need to provide letters etc. I had ILR and I just provided my passports (two since one expired) showing my five years stay in UK.
Being British is a state of mind.

Ahh OK I had read this as 'Your Passports OR say why unable to provide' AND SUPPLY letters from employers, etc.

The NCS adviser also confirmed the same i.e. no need to bring employment letters.
