Applied for naturalisation and got married in the meantime

Post by wisemen » Tue Jan 05, 2016 4:57 pm

I have applied for naturalisation and been waiting around 5 months already so really should hear within the next few weeks now. I have also got married recently and wanted to ask what the best way to update home office was on this. Can someone give me a link that I can check (I googled and couldnt find one).

My wife is an Indian national but I have been living here since childhood (a working adult now). I have sponsored her though as a spouse who works in the UK and is a permanent resident here (indefinite leave to remain).

I thought my sponsoring her already updated the home office on this. Am I wrong to think this?

Just been really busy with work over christmas and this came to my mind just now.

In August you had PR, but now you have ILR?
No need to inform HO about your marriage.

Thanks for the support. I was under the impression that PR and ILR are both the same thing.

"Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) or permanent residency (PR) is an immigration status granted to a person who does not hold the right of abode in the United Kingdom (UK), but who has been admitted to the UK without any time limit on his or her stay and who is free to take up employment or study, without restriction.
"

Also, I didnt say anywhere in that thread that I got PR recently. I said, I had PR and was gonna apply for naturalisation.

Anyways, back to my current query. Thank you for informing me that I don't need to inform HO about my marriage. Just out of curiousity, is there a HO page on the web where I can read more about this? Really do appreciate your help.

PR is obtained via the EEA/EU route (which your post that sushdmehta provided the link for you said you are a EEA family member)

I am not an EEA national, but I am a family member of an EEA national. So thats another reason why I think I shouldnt fill this section out.

Pls advise.
ILR is obtained via the UK Immigration rules, i.e. Tier 1, Tier 2, UK Ancestry, Spouse settlement visa, etc.
