MN1 Processing: Variability... and status check

hi,

does anyone have any idea what causes the variable timelines in MN1 processing?

There are applications that seem to be waiting for 5/4 months and on the other hand there are ones that are being processed within 5 weeks or so.

Is there any chance... has anyone had any sort of successful strategy in checking the status of their application?
