Hi All,

I have a query for my wife who is applying for her naturalization. Basically she got her ILR in 2015 and is now eligible for citizenship and there's one issue that is a doubt which goes back in 2009 - she was granted a student visa on say "X" university and after her visa was granted, she moved to "Y" university without informing HO. After reading different forums, it seems that she can do that if she was granted visa before 5th oct 2009 which was under old rules and after 5th oct 2009 we need to inform HO and change visa if we change the university. Is this correct and if it is do any of you think she will have issue when applying for her naturalization and will HO go and ask her old university about this issue ? Also what are the other checks HO carries out during naturalization process ?

There are various crosschecks and verifications against a bunch of government, quasi-government and other datafeeds and datasources.
Including on applicant's immigration history and past applications.

Document validation checks.
Partner checks - if a s.6(2) application.

Check on settled status.
Check on residence in UK and absences from UK.
Proof of physical presence in UK 5 (/3) years before date of application.

Credit checks.
Checks with friends at HMRC (if a worker),
No doubt checks against electoral roll etc.
Referee checks (maybe).
Sound mind.

Criminal record checks etc.
