Dear Sir/Madam,
I understand that I must pass a Grade 5 Trinity College English test called CEFR level B1. This exam tests your speaking and listening skills only. Is this the correct exam? I know there is another B1 written exam.
I am a fully qualified primary teacher here in the UK and in order to gain my qualified teaching status (QTS) I passed the Literacy Skills Test and attend a post graduate course (called PGCE) which was entirely taught in English at Buckingham University. I am currently teaching English (and many other subjects) in an independent outstanding primary school in London.
On the website I read that any degree or masters taught in the UK would do the job. What about my PGCE? It is clearly worth more than a degree: to enroll the PGCE (primary) you must have a very good English, it is not like studying a technical degree. I sent a letter to the Home Office asking if my PGCE was ok. I have not received an answer yet. Any idea?
Many thanks,
Daniel
