SAR - wrong national nin registered on the application

Post by zapzap » Fri Aug 25, 2017 10:25 am

I have recently done a SAR and checked the CID (caseworker information database) for my records and notice that the HO mistakenly recorded my NIN incorrectly by changing one number.

For my surprised this error was uploaded when I applied for my PR and it has been carried on my naturalisation even though I put the correct details on the AN form. Also, my payslips were sent with the PR application and the NIN is correct there but registered wrong.

I used the NCS and as I am non EU I was told I was not required to submit my P60's or SA302 for the periods I was self employed as my passport get stamped.

Now, I am worry about this because I don't know how to report this error.

I have already contacted HRMC to request my tax records just in case I received a letter requesting this information.

What do you recommend me to do? do I need to be worried about this as I can get a refusal? How do I fix this error?

Hi,

When did you apply for your naturalisation ?
I'm not sure if this link would be helpful to you https://www.gov.uk/change-circumstances-visa-brp
another option would be to email your finding to citizenship.support@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

How did you do the SAR? did you do it yourself or did you get a lawyer to do that for you?
thanks

Hi Jegz82

Many thanks for your post. I applied in mid July (just went to the NCS and they phoned the HO to get my PR date)

I applied myself for the fast track SAR just to confirm my PR date which was correct as indicated by the NCS officer but just notice the mistake in my National Insurance Number.

I checked the AN form that I have submitted and I put the correct number on it. I think they made a transcript mistake as it was just one number.

One scenario is that they can check the information on the AN Form, or they can request my information about my tax (P60's or payslips) which I will be happy to submit.

Not sure if changes of circumstances will work but I will try to send an email to them so they can request me the information and correct the error.

Many thanks
