British overseas citizenship for child born to british mom

I applied for my son's passport from new delhi on 20th mar h but been waiting since then and they keep saying it's under examination . Had interview in may . Got an email from hmpo on Friday asking me for evidence of my ni number , which I don't have since I have never worked in the uk .. I have been living in india . Now what ?

How did you acquire your British citizenship?

Do you have British citizenship or British Overseas Citizenship (which is a specific category of British nationality without the right to live in the UK)?
