ILR PROOF

Dear Sir/Madam

I entered UK in 1978 on mothers settlement and my foreign passport was stamped with ILR on arrival. Unfortunately that passport of mine got stolen in 1988 and now that we want to apply for my grandchild's (daughters son) british passport i have to provide proof of my immigration status of when my daughter was born in 1983.

How do i get proof of such documents?

I have applied for SARS but they have no records going back so far.

Do you or your employers have any photocopies of your lost passport?

Unfortunately i dont have any photocopies. I even tried contacting the solicitor who completed my house purchase but they only keep documents for 8 years and we are looking back at 40years.

Is there any other way?
