Child referee as part of an AN form

I'm filling-in a joint online AN application for myself, my wife and our child, who is 8 (https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ne-form-an)

I have a problem understanding what to do about the referees section for my child. It only says this on that step:

Referees must:

• not be a relative, solicitor or agent of the applicant
• not be related to the other referee
• not be employed by the Home Office
• know or have known the applicant personally for more than 3 years
• they are willing to give full details of their knowledge of the applicant
• advise the Home Office of any reason why the applicant should not be registered

Referees must also not have been convicted of an imprisonable offence. A single non-custodial sentence may be disregarded if:

• it did not occur within the last 12 months
• there is strong evidence showing that the referee is of good character

Give your first referee's details. This referee must be the holder of a British Citizen passport (and either a professional person or over the age of 25)

However, I read the guidance notes for the AN form and there it says:

Each individual applying for naturalisation must complete a separate application form.
Therefore husbands, wives and civil partners wishing to naturalise, must complete
separate forms. Family applications should include separate forms for each child, either
an AN Form where the child is now an adult or an MN1 Form for a minor. We do not
need applications for adults or minors who are already British.

So, then I read the MN1 guidance notes, where it says:

One referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a
professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of
religion. The other referee must normally be the holder of a British citizen passport

and either a professional person or over the age of 25.

So, after all, do I need to get a referee who has engaged with the child in a
professional capacity or not?
I assume not, as it is not mentioned in the actual online form and I wouldn't even know about such requirement had I not played a detective.

But I'm still worried that getting a family friend as a referee could potentially lead to a rejection of the application.
