Retain South African Citizenship

Post by jnizz12 » Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:27 am

hi,

I will be applying for British citizenship later this year and I want to retain my South African citizenship.

One of the requirements are:
Proof that foreign citizenship is not yet acquired, from the authorities of the country you wish to
acquire foreign citizenship of (original and with a sworn translated version if not issued in English).
In case of UK, it is a Non acquisition letter issued by the UK visas and Immigration, only an
original will be accepted.

What are my options to get this Non-acquisition letter?

thank you

Indeed yes. I chose not to do this step and gave up my SA citizenship but have a letter from the embassy (free of charge) allowing me to enter SA on my British passport and stating that as I was born there, I have the right to permanent residency. When I go home, I simply travel with the letter because they ask for it every time.
