Hi all,
I would appreciate your help with an email I received.
I received an email from dept56@homeoffice.gov.uk stating that my application will take longer than six months due to the checks they are carrying out.
Has anyone else received a similar email from dept56?
What can I do now? What even is dept56 ?

You don't need to do anything. It is an advisory email to let you know they are carrying out further checks.

Once the six months elapse, you can follow up on your application.

My friends received an email from general homeoffice email regarding the delay in processing their application. No one received any from dept56 , so I just wanted to know what is that department,
And in regards to following up with my application after 6 months, how can I do that ?

You can follow the steps in this thread months-plus-waiting-for-citizenship-app ... 43483.html but wait until the 6 months have elapsed or you will only get a boilerplate response.

We don't know exactly what dept56 is (or any other internal departments in the HO. Maybe someone will share their experience. In any case, try to treat it as a generic email and not as a sign you need to worry (I appreciate it is difficult).
