British Passport Application - Incorrect date of issue

Post by John3293 » Tue Feb 10, 2026 9:40 pm

Hi experts,

Hope you are well.

Today we received our naturalisation certificates, after a attending the Citizenship Ceremony. Straight away applied for the passports. Our certificate dates were dated today. Overjoyed by the fact that we can apply for the passports, we straight away applied and got the references completed. After this, just noticed that our daughter's naturalisation certificate date was 16 Jan 2026, instead of ours dated today. I, by error, put the certificate date as today. Would it be a big trouble?

Also for the child (3 years old) , the photo code shared, the photo looked pretty okay, but Home Office website said some color related issue. I still submitted it saying 'the applicant is a child and it was difficult to get a better picture than this'. Would this also be okay?

The photo generation site said (photobooth) said it meets all requirements.

Thanks in advance.

Those are minor issues. It should be fine. If they need you to change anything, you would be contacted accordingly.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Thanks Ticktack.

Today morning we received an email asking for documents to prove my child's (born outside the UK, although my wife had ILR at that time) address and identity.

The following, to be precise -

"We need to confirm that XXXX is currently resident in the UK and is connected to the address stated on the application, to confirm this please send a selection of documents from the list below.

a card or letter from your GP, hospital or other healthcare professional confirming appointments recently made or attended
a letter or certificate from a UK school, college, university or other accredited educational or training organisation showing the dates of enrolment and attendance with the parent’s name and address
a passport stamp confirming entry at the UK border
a used travel ticket confirming entry to the UK from another country
a letter from a government department, public service or charity that show you dealt with them on a particular date or period of time (for example Job Centre Plus or Citizens Advice)
Evidence should name the child and confirm them at the address stated on the application it must be signed (if applicable) and recently dated.

Please note this list is not exhaustive."

Just checked with the GP and they said they can't issue appointment letters as they have not verified our address. It is hard to believe GPs don't send or unable to generate an appointment letter!!!!!!

Following is our situation -

1. School - not started going
2. Hospital - never been hospitalised (thanks to God)
3. Passport Stamp - already sent them the one and only passport and it has got the necessary stamps.
4. Travel tickets - I do have them along with the boarding passes.
5. Letter from government dept- never dealt with this scenario

Regarding entry to and living in the UK, I guess the boarding pass and passport stamps (although already provided) would be acceptable to them. But on proof of address, not quite sure what to do as GP is not willing to issue an appointment letter and not started schooling.

Do you guys have any suggestion ?

Many thanks,
J
