CCJ(tuition fees) and Citizenship application

Post by BKN21 » Sat Feb 20, 2010 12:51 pm

I am due to appy for citizenship but discovered a week ago that a ccj has been posted on my credit file. Despite the fact that I did not receive any correspondence leading to the ccj, I believe it is due to non-payment of tuition fees to a university I registered for, but could not attend after a month due to mitigating circumstances which was communicated to the university accordingly.
I am in contact with the courts to set aside the judgement for the process to follow its due course and for a redetermination of debt to be done should I be found liable for this non-credit debt for services unsolicited. My credit report shows a satisfactory payment schedule for all my other debts.
Despite the knowledge that debt will not solely be a basis for refusal I want to address the issue of this debt asap as it is causing harm to my credit file.
How is the statement of this ccj with the given explanation affect the outcome of my application?I welcome your views and advise.

Thank you.
