Spouse living abroad - will naturalisation be refused?

Post by indianbear » Tue Sep 06, 2011 8:48 am

Hi everyone,

I am about to apply for my naturalisation via the NSC. I am applying on the ILR plus 12 month rule.
I am married but my wife is living abroad (in her home country in Asia) as she cannot secure a job in the UK as the employment market is pretty dismal here. So it makes sense for her to wait before coming here in the future if I secure my naturalisation.
I dont own a home in the UK and I dont have any relations here.
I read Chapter 18 Annex F and I am beginning to think my chances are pretty low in securing naturalisation.
My parents live aborad too and I make annual trips home lasting an average of 3 weeks (15 days absence).
Can I know if anyone has been in a similar situation?
Should I write an accompanying letter?

My wife was here in 2009 on a Work Permit dependant visa but left at the end of the year as she couldnt find any meaningful work.

Thanks a lot guys,
IB

If you meet the residence requirements for naturalizaton then your wife's situation and location is not relevant to your application.
