British Citizenship or coninue with ILR for son

Hi,
I need some advice. Me and my wife got our ILR last week and i didn't add my son (born before either got an ILR) as i wanted to go for his citizenship directly.

Now as i understand, the process for this is as follows:
- Apply with MN1 for citizen ship certificate
- Apply for British passport after that

Its 2 applications in all. Processing time on an avg for MN1 is 2 months and not sure after that.

We (entire family) are travelling on the 15th Feb and i dont think things would be sorted by then. As i also need to apply for respective country' travel visa.

Please advise me what to do. In worst case scenario, i'd apply for my son's ILR by post. But i am skeptical of processing times.

Is it only you who is travelling or your son as well?
Your travel should not affect his applications.

Child passport application can be done in one week (fast track application). With the current timescales for MN1 application, you most likely won't be able to get it all done by February. Worth applying using NCS this week. You might get lucky.

I suggest you explore other options (ILR on current passport, postponing travel etc).

I just checked the ILR procedure for dependents
- Its Set F form
- Costs 942 quid

I repent not adding one more dependent in my original application for 650 odd pounds.

Is there any other way to extend his stay on the current visa for another 3 months?

So do you suggest i apply for mn1 form through NCS ? Fast Track ??
Apply for British passport once the check is done ?
Then apply for visiting country visa ?

For NCS see here. Applying using NCS will allow you to keep your passport with you so you can have a plan B. you will stil need to wait 1-2 months for a decision. Fast track is only for passport applications and takes about a week. I don't know where you are travelling to so can't comment on getting a visa.
Please note that some countries don't allow dual nationality so once your son acquires BC, there might be procedures to follow.

I would try to apply ASAP using NCS and look at an option of delaying travel if possible. At the end of the day, it's either time or money. Your call.

- So apply with MN1 from through NCS.
- I'll get a citizenship approval certificate ?? from HO
- I fill in the Identity and passport service available in Post office with the certificate number
- Mail it to H Office postal office mentioned don the envelope to Durham
- Did'nt see a fast track option in there ??
- Get British passport
- Apply for the country visa (takes 3-4 days max)

Is there no ways to extend the dependent visa at this stage ??

You got the basics right. Fast track passport application is not applied by post but in person by appointment. See more here.

As far as I know, you can't extend the dependant visa as you are not on that visa any more once you have been granted ILR.

I read through all the guidance for MN1 and rest of the information needed and it feels for a different set of audience. Some examples:

- Question 1.3 talks about the date when child got indefinite leave to remain?
Now this whole application is for kids who were born to parents without ILR and want to apply straight for BC. If the kid already has an ILR, why would they apply for MN1 and not got to the post office form?

I guess there is a mistype or i am reading wrong.

- No where they've asked about parents passport as pr0of of identification to cross check.
Maybe that is not required and they can crosscheck it internally but they do no have any other information apart from the date?

There are several different categories which allow you to register a child as a BC. The form needs to cover all of them. Some of them would mean the child has ILR (for example if the child was not born in the UK, the child can only apply when either parent apply for naturalisation. Not when parent granted ILR). The questions says " Please say if and when". If not applicable, leave blank.

A parent passport is required as supporting evidence and the parent details are needed in the form. What are you missing?
