Hi sushdmehta. The residential qualifying period for British Citizenship still confuses me, as I have recently got ILR and quite new to BC laws.

Please can you take a look on my dates and advise when I can apply for British Citizenship.

I have been doing calculations for weeks but still get confused about the qualifying period.

HSMP: 21 May 2007 (valid until 21 May 2009)
Entered UK: 15 Jun 2007
Tier-1 Ext: 23 April 2009 (valid until 04 Jun 2012)
ILR: 24 April 2012
BC: :?:

Hi Linkers,

You can apply on any date after 24th April 2013, provided you were in the country five years from that date.
Example if you applied on 24th April 2013, you should have been present in the country on 24th April 2008.

Hi rentmeda. Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. This clears all my doubts.

Like other people I was also confusing residential qualifying period (that I can’t include time on ILR in it or it’s 6 years in total as appose to 5 years).

Cheers,
linkers

thank you very much...
