HI
I received ILR in Nov 2011 along with my wife. I suppose i can apply for Naturalization in Nov 2012. When i got ILR, i was not required to do LIUK test or any english language test (HSMP JR, 5 Years). I was wondering if i have to do these two test now?

You will both have to pass the Life in the UK test before applying for BC. Your English is obviously above the level for taking the ESOL option.

Thanks Casa
What reason should i mention on the form ? i thought this is complusory along with LIUK. I was not asked for when i applied for ILR as i was exempt due to HSMP JR . i have been searchin this forum and google to see if there is anything saying if one was exempt ffrom English test while applying for ILR , they dnt need to do it while aplying for BC.
Regards

You are not 'exempt' - there are two ways to satisfy the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK requirement, one is to take an ESOL course with citizenship if your English is below a certain standard, the other is to take the Life in the UK test if your English is above that standard. No on needs to do both. See

English test is not / never was a requirement for settlement (either for HSMP JR covered migrants or for non-HSMP-JR migrants).
HSMP JR migrants (and their dependant(s)) are exempt from
LITUK test or
ESOL English course with citizenship content at the time of settlement but must pass either one of the two before applying for naturalisation.
"ESOL English course with citizenship content" is only for those with less than basic knowledge of English language.
The
exemption from LITUK test applies only for certain categories of applicants.
If you were exempted from this requirement when you applied for settlement, you must now pass a test or take an ESOL course before applying for naturalisation, unless the previous exemption was agreed on grounds of your age or a physical or mental impairment.
