I applied for naturalisation three weeks ago, but I didn't receive an acknowledgment letter and fees weren't debited. I checked the NCS tracking number I was given and the documents were delivered. Is this normal or should I contact the Home Office?

riojamel, i applied on this basis i.e. 5 yrs work permit and 1 year ILR. The only supporting docs i sent was:
- my passport
- life in the uk test cert (though after i made the application i realised this was necessary since i already submitted it with my ILR application last year).
- job letter: i didn't think this was necessary but i sent it nonetheless as i was a little bit confused after reading the guidance notes which seem to imply you should send it while the application form didnt. i thought best to send it and it wasnt needed than vice versa


VogelVomOst, hang in there, after checking out the timeline topic, i think it is fairly normal. I sent my application off on 10th July and still no sign of the fee debited either.

@riojamel: I sent the same documents as Kel, plus a marriage certificate to qualify for the discounted fees' rate of a joint application.

@Kel: I submitted mine on the 29th of June. This is why I became a bit worried.

i would give them a little bit more time before you start worrying. if it is not debited by the one month mark, i would try and give them a call. i will keep you advised when mine gets debited

in section 3.5 i entered the HMRC Salford address that our company accountant advised me to use.

I don't have any reference number or anything
I got ILR last year on the basis of 5 years work permit

Please can somebody tell me where I can find this number?

i actually left that section blank because like you i did not have any reference number

You can find this number on the top right hand side of the letter you received from the Home Office prior to acquiring ILR. However, I left this section blank as well.

Vogel, was your fee debited yet? mine was done on 25 july

They debited them on the 24th; a day after I received the acknowledgement.

Can I use my work manager as my 1 referee ????
And 2 nd cud be nurse or owner of any business and they both shud know me from last 3 years ???

Just wondering if they both don't want to give there British passport number .will that be fine and just leave that blank???? Or I need there passport numbers too ????????????

I see no reason why your referees should have any issue giving their passport numbers? If I were you I would find other referees.

For my first referee I used my boss who is the Managing Director and also a Ship Broker. For my second referee I used a past work colleague who is a Barrister.

But it just some time people avoid to give there passport number

If I leave that blank would that be a problem for me???

To be honest I don't know if it will cause any problems but I don't think I would like to risk it if it can be avoided.
