Registering Child as British While In India

Hi,
I recently got Indian passport for my new born baby. My wife and the new born baby are traveling to India in next week. Some urgent family function so they need to travel soon. We both are planning for our ILR after my wife comes back from India. She may leave the baby in India with her parents for time being. Is it possible for the new born baby to be registered as British Citizen while he is in India??
