Hi,

With reference to Form AN - Application for naturalisation as a British Citizen, I have some queries which are mentioned below :-

QUERY NO 1 :-

1) In section 2 Residence Requirements, I am supposed to provide the Date of departure and arrival in the UK for the last 5 years and the total no of days.
- Can you please confirm should the date of departure and arrival to be considered or excluded for total no of days?

for example if i have daparted from UK on 01-04-2012 and arrived UK on 10-04-2010 what should be the date to be entered and NO OF DAYS ABSENT ( should I consider only 8 absent days in this case and how would I enter the dates if so)

QUERY NO 2 :-

2) If I apply for the Natralisation in the month of October or November, can I go for a holiday for 5 - 6 days outside the country?

Can someone please clarify these queries for me.

Thanks ,

You only count full days when you have not been in the UK at all. Which means that you do not count the departure & the arrival day. For example: departure 1st of April, return 2nd of April: 0 days absent; or departure 1st of April, return 10th of April: 8 days absent.

There are four presence requirements. You must not:
(1) have been absent more than 450 days in the last 5 years (discretion possible)
(2) have been absent more than 90 days in the last 1 year (discretion possible)
(3) have been absent on the day exactly 5 years before HO receives your application (discretion not possible)
(4) be absent on the day HO receives your application (discretion under certain conditions possible).
If you stick to those 4 when you are planning your holiday, you are good.
