Hi all.
This topic puzzles me a bit so any help would be great to clarify if I can apply for BC.
I arrived in the UK on 4Nov2006 and obtained ILR on 10Oct2011.
Do I qualify on 5Nov2012 or 11Oct2012?
Thanks.

Thanks Jambu
i just can't seem to get this right in my head.
Residential qualifying period is 5 years and 1 year with ILR. This makes it six years...so i arrived on 04Nov06 so six years should be 05Nov12.
Your thoughts please?
Thanks.

See
6 years?.
For naturalisation, just the last 5 years count. Doesn't matter if you came to the UK 20 years ago. Of those 5 years, at least the last year needs to be with ILR (unless married to BC).

Thanks Jambo
i get it now....my five years qualifying period will include my one year ILR.
and just one final question.
i will be moving during the time my application is being decided. Can i give my friend's address.
if so, great coz i would prefer NOT to send them a notification that i changed address coz they might mess it up and send the certificate to my old address.
cheers and thks for answering.

Not really.
Just notify them by writing about the change and set-up Royalmail redirection service from the old address just in case.
