Citizenship application in progress - job offer overseas

Hi all,

I currently have a naturalisation application with the home office submitted two weeks ago, and I've received the confirmation letter. I'm considering taking a job in Hong Kong with a British company for 6 or 12 months which starts in November.

Obviously I'd have to come back to the UK to do the citizenship ceremony, that's fine, I could take two or three days of leave. But what about the British Passport application - can a first passport application be done outside of the UK?

Is there any other reason I've missed that perhaps I'd be better off not considering moving to Hong Kong at the moment?

Thanks to all in advance

Yes.

It is very humid there in the summer.

Make sure someone goes over your post in (the rare) case the HO would like to check some details with you (you normally have 3 weeks to respond to their questions).

Thanks so much for the advice!

You're right it is humid. I was actually there in June briefly and even just standing outside for 90 seconds made me break out into a sweat. But I've heard that it's nice there for 6 months of the year including Dec Jan Feb... which sounds great when I think of the UK's winter!

I consider my application to have been extremely straightforward so hopefully they wouldn't ask for any extra details.
