Hello,

I am confused regarding 5 year residency timeline. I need your help on when i can apply for my naturalisation application.

Date first entered the country: 3 Dec 2006
Date of ILR obtained : 15 Nov 2011.

Question 1: Can i apply anytime after 15Nov 2012 or do i have to wait untill 3Dec2012.

Question 2: Do the spouse also have to be in the country both when HO receives the application and the date 5 years backwards.

Q2: Yes. Each applicant needs to meet the requirement. Each applicant is applying independently. There is no concept of dependant for naturalisation.

That helps.. The confusion originated with 5 years of which 1 year should be ILR.
