Is it an offence to hold my child passport while he is not travelling with me?

So his other passport, that has a valid UK visa in it? If yes, why does he just re-enter the UK using that other passport?

May I ask - Didn't you send his other passport together with the British passport application? Normally, you have only a few days from receiving the foreign passport back and receiving the British passport.

That's quite a long holiday...

A passport application needs to be applied where the child is present. Also any current passport needs to be sent with the application. You clearly ignored the rules until now so why are you worried about carrying the passport with you abroad?

Consider yourself lucky IPS didn't suspect the application. I don't believe it is an offence to carry the passport with you.
