Hi All,
This is a query on behalf of my friend and would be a good learning for me too (in the long run).
My friend has got her ILR couple of weeks back (1st week of December 2012). She wanted to confirm when can she apply for Naturalisation at the earliest ? Reason to ask this question is she has been out of the country for less than 100 days in her 5 year period. 5 year period will be completing in Feb 2012.
Q2. Does one has to complete whole year on ILR/PR before she applies for Naturalisation ?
Appreciate your help.

Yes (unless she is married to a British citizen). It doesn't matter she has completed 5 years already.

Thank you for your swift reply Jambo.
Nope. She isn't married to the BC.
Once again thank you

A quick one again...
How does the absence get calculated ?
Is it for the number of days in last 1 year ? Or is it the number of days in last 5 years ?

there are two requirements:
- Less than 90 days in the last year before applying.
- Less than 450 days in the 5 years before applying (the 5 years include the year from point above).

Sorry I need clarification again, are you saying, although I was given Indefinite Leave to Remain PR on 6/12/12 that I have complete another 3 years on ILR to then qualify to apply for naturalization? Is that what you are saying? If not, could you please give me a rough idea as to which month or after how long can I think about applying for naturalization.
- I was given discretionary leave to remain in 2004 (3 years) then granted further leave to remain for another 3 years which finished 06/08/12 then I applied for ILR which was granted on 06/12/12. Am married to BC.

As far as my knowledge goes, your friend will have to complete 1 year on ILR before she can apply for naturalisation.
Hope that helps,
