Citizenship of the baby !!

Hi Folks,
I am a british citizen and my wife is an Indian Citizen. We are expecting a baby and I think my wife will have an ILR by the time we have the baby. We are planning to have the baby in the UK.
I would like the baby to have Indian Citizenship like my wife. So was hoping the baby can also have ILR. But I read somewhere that the baby is automatically qualified to be a British Citizen so ILR cannot be granted.
Is there any way I can get an Indian Citizenship for the baby and not have to worry about travel to UK (right of abode)
