Hello,

I am just trying to determine if I have to wait 12 months after being granted ILR before applying for a British passport.

My time horizon of events are as follows:

- 24 Sep 2005 - entered UK o working holiday visa
- 21 July 2007 - granted a employee sponsored work permit
- 23 Feb 2011 - granted a Tier 1 (General) Leave to remain visa
- 22 Jan 2013 - Granted ILR

In light of the above, do I still have to remain in the UK for 12 months on the ILR before applying for british citizenship or am I already eligible?

Many thanks

Why you think you don't need to? You could have been living in the UK for 50 years until you got your ILR. You still need to wait unless married to BC.

The earliest you can apply is 22 Jan 2014. Also, make sure to read standard requirements.

Jambo - I wasn't sure, hence the query.

Many thanks Vinitmanu. Much appreciated.
