Now that I have become a British Citizen, is it safe now to throw my Life in the UK test certificate and previous UK border agency correspondences (such as letters of them approving my ILR, etc)?

Probably, but if you have kids or grandchildren maybe they can put down the Wii controller for five minutes and learn something of their ancestry. You can regale them with your life story and show some relics garnered during your journey. I have a copy of my ancestor's papers from Ellis Island. Really, I find it quite moving.
