I'm a BC, and my wife has applied for naturalisation (using NCS) two weeks ago. We got the acknowledgement letter on 11th Feb (dated 8th), and the fee has been taken from her credit card.

Then on 14th Feb, she left the UK for a new job overseas, on a 12 month contract. We have been told quite a few times (on this board and elsewhere) that her application will go perfectly well in her absence, provided we got the acknowledgement letter before she left the country. So far, so good.

I'm staying here at least until July, depending on my work. The thing is that I don't need our fairly large rented flat anymore, and I want to downsize to a room in a shared house to save some money. My wife's name wouldn't be on the tenancy agreement or the council tax bill (which it is at the moment) and I think we would give the Home Office my parents' address for her application.

Will doing that involve any risk for her naturalisation? At the moment, if HO just processes her form in sleep mode, they can write to her at the old address and might not even notice she has moved out. Let me know please if I should stay put to avoid any complications.

Leave it as it is, for the time being.

So you think it would make a difference if I move to a different address at which my wife is not a tenant? I would only be renting a room there so I couldn't have her on the contract.

Her application is based on the evidence submitted with the application not current status.

In that case, do you know what (if anything) they actually check up on? We always assumed that when a caseworker finally gets round to reading her form, they would try to check that what she put down was still true.

Do you think the case worker would call your landlord to confirm?????
