British Passport by postal

Some basic questions guys for applying for British Passport. I'm thinking of applying it myself rather than Check and Send - I know it's just another 10 quid but the application form seems pretty straight -forward.

My only worry is that when we fill the application form online, how long is it that we receive the filled form from IPS. Is it that we have to use only that or can we submit hand-filled form.

If we can hand-fill the form, where do I get the form from - any post-office? Do I ask at the counter or is it something they charge it ?

Also, where do we submit the form - the online guidance says post it with envelope that comes with filled form , but can we use RM special delivery to send our application to IPS...

Any one who applied by them-self, can they please share their experience.

Many thanks

Just get a form from the post office (most main ones have it). It's free. I never understood what's the point of doing it online if you need to wait for it to be posted to you.

Royal Mail SD will cost you about £5 so it's only £3 more for check&send (they sent it for you). I know there are different views on using C&S but for me they helped in several occasions (mainly with regards to the photo requirements).
