British Citizenship Registration

Hello,
We have applied MN1 form to register my son as a British Citizen. But still we are waiting for update but we have booked holiday to Europe.
The question is, my son got old visa (Tier 2 dependant) valid until 30-Oct-2015.
Can I use his visa to travel and come back to UK or I need to wait for his British passport?
Please guide me
