Hi,
I received ILR recently (still awaiting BRPs). My kind is UK born so would like to apply for citizenship. Could one provide replies to following queries:
1. Should I wait to receive BRPs or can apply straightaway using approval letters?
2. Can I received child benefits?!
3. Kid is less than a year old, so I take it no referee problem!!
4. Will he get passport or its just a citizenship certificate that is issued?!
Thanks.

3. Kid is less than a year old, so I take it no referee problem!! You will need to find a referee that is engaged with the child like a health visitor etc.
4. Will he get passport or its just a citizenship certificate that is issued?! You will get a registration certificate when you apply on MN1 which is British citizenship and you need that before you can apply for a passport at an additional fee which a free form that you can collect at the post office. You can only apply directly for a passport if the child was born after you received ILR.
Thanks.

Many thanks.
Just a couple of more questions please.
1. I am pakistani national but we have not made kid's pakistani passport! Do we have to make pakistani passport first?!
2. MN1 guidance form includes a section about ceremony to attend at the age of 18 years! Does he not get a passport until then?!
Thanks.

No

Do you really think your child will turn 18 by the time application is approved? For a child of one year, it will take 17 years to turn 18.
MN1 is application to register the child as a British Citizen. It is not a passport application. Child will never get a passport until you make a passport application. You can only make a passport application once your MN1 application is successful.

So I take it once the application MN1 is approved then we could get passport this year!
Thanks.

You can apply for the passport as soon as you get MN1 approved. You can take passport after 1 year, or 2 years or 10 years. You may even decide never to get a British passport for your kid. Having a passport or not having one will not change the fact that your kid is a British citizen once the application is approved.
