MN1 Application Question?

Hi, I have a question about the MN1 Application.
I'm currently 16 and have been living in the UK with my mother (My parents are divorced) for 6 years now, although no one in my family was born in the UK and we are originally from Lithuania. My mother cannot get a citizenship because her English is still too poor and she doesn't necessarily need it. However, I plan to stay in the UK and attend university here and there is a specific scholarship opportunity that I would like to enter which requires you to be a British Citizen, so I was wondering what are the chances of the application being successful if none of my parents are British Citizens? Is needing the citizenship for certain opportunities I'm missing out on a good enough reason?
Thanks.
